A Dream Takes Flight
TWA Captain Richard J. Bennett found it a lot easier to pilot a hundred ton airliner through a pale blue sky than to move paint around on a blank white canvas.
Encyclopedias of technical knowledge and attention to detail were necessary for his 36 years of flying. These transferred well to realistic art, but he soon discovered that painting required heart, soul and spirit and it is these that Richard captures in his work. His subjects range from the most intricate of flowers to the intriguing landscapes of his home on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.
Rich’s passion for painting began as a child with pencil stubs and tons of scrap paper and later grew into brushes and broad canvases. His love of color, drama, and the joy of that first brush stroke have held his interest through years of diverted dreams.
